How Much Are Vertical Cellular Shades in Greenville, SC?

Cellular Honeycomb Shades

Honeycombs make a significant difference to any room. You may need material that will ensure optimal privacy, or shades of agreeable fashion. Vertical cellular shades, which can easily replace a curtain or vertical blind on a sliding door, can meet those needs and more. This article is aimed at providing some details about vertical honeycombs along with price ranges from several trusted brands.

What Are Vertical Honeycomb Shades?

Large windows and glass doors can be a culprit when it comes to letting the winter cold or the summer heat creep. Vertical honeycombs are a perfect way to resist outdoor temperature fluctuations while offering light filtering or room darkening capabilities. Due to their cell structure, these shades combine soft, light-diffusing qualities together with unique insulating properties.

How Much Will I Spend?

Hunter Douglas: DuetteR and ApplauseR Vertical Honeycomb Shades

  • 75x82 (sliding glass door) price range: $1,400 - $3,700

Norman: Vertical PortraitTM Honeycomb Shades

  • 75x82 (sliding glass door) price range: $1,400 - $2,450

Alta: Vertical Honeycomb Shades

  • 75x82 (sliding glass door) price range: $1,450 - $2,700

How Can I Customize Vertical Honeycomb Shades?

Fabrics: Fabric options come in a variety of colors and textures, with opacity ranging from sheer and light-filtering to room-darkening and blackout. Cell sizes can vary, with the most common being ¾” and 1-¼”. Some shades also come in a 2” hybrid pleat. While Hunter Doulgas and Alta price all their fabric types in their pricing charts, Norman adds a 20% surcharge to the base price of their shades for room-darkening or sheer fabric.

Shades: All three of the manufacturers mentioned offer a two-in-one window treatment. You select a light-filtering or sheer shade and pair it with a room-darkening or blackout shade. Both are installed on the same headrail, and depending on how much light or view you want in your space at any given time, you can adjust these shades accordingly. Alta and Norman charge for both honeycombs separately. Hunter Douglas calls their system DuoliteR, which they price by combining the cost of the higher-priced panel together with a $350 surcharge.

Stack: Your stacking options include traveling center stack, left or right stack, or split stack. While left or right stacking options are standard, there is a surcharge for center or split stack. Traveling center stack will include a $50-$100 surcharge depending on the manufacturer, while the split stack option is typically priced as two separate shades. Hunter Douglas also charges an extra $250 on top of the shades’ prices for their split stack design.

Valance: Alta and Hunter Douglas provide a valance with their standard shades, while Norman’s shades come with a sleek headrail.

Motorization: Alta and Norman do not offer motorization for their vertical applications, however Hunter Douglas does offer their PowerViewR Gen 3 automation for their DuetteR Honeycomb shades. For the motor system itself, Hunter Douglas charges $300 for standard and $525 for split stack. If you want a rechargeable battery wand, the system can be from $375-$600 depending on if you choose standard or split stack.
